Meta Ads Editor
One ad in each ad set (1-N-1)
Send the 1st file to the 1st ad set, the 2nd to the 2nd and so on, instead of every ad in every ad set.
Quick answer
In the Meta Ads Editor, check the ad sets under Select Ad Sets, pick the same number of creatives and, under How should ads be distributed?, choose One ad per ad set (1-N-1). Click Create Ads.

Before you start
- The default is All ads in all ad sets: 2 files and 2 ad sets make 4 ads.
- In 1-N-1, the number of files and ad sets must match: 3 files, 3 ad sets, 3 ads.
- Order matters: the 1st file in the list goes to the 1st checked ad set.

If something goes wrong
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The 1-N-1 option has no effect | No ad set was checked, only campaigns | Open Select Ad Sets and check the ad sets |
| The upload asks for the same number | There are more files than ad sets, or the opposite | Adjust the selection so both numbers match |
| The file went to the wrong ad set | The file order did not match the ad set order | Check in Edit each ad before creating |
Frequently asked questions
How do I upload one ad to each ad set in Meta Ads Editor?
After choosing your creatives, go to How to distribute the ads? and choose One ad per set (1-N-1).
The 1st file goes only to the 1st selected ad set, the 2nd file to the 2nd, and so on. That's why the number of files and ad sets must match (3 files, 3 ad sets). The summary below the selector shows the math: "3 ad sets · 1 ad in each = 3 ads."
All ads in all ad sets is the default (2 files × 2 ad sets = 4 ads).
It works both on the files tab and on the Ad with Instagram Link tab, and also through MCP or AI Copilot: ask for one file in each ad set.
