Before you start
- The Advanced panel sits at the top of the editor, between the account picker and the campaign list.
- You can save primary text, headline, website, UTMs, call to action, text and headline variations, ad name and suffix, status, account, campaigns, ad sets, Page and Instagram.
- Texts you change in Edit each ad only apply to that upload and are not saved in the preset.
Step by step
In this example, we save a delivery business default: text, headline, website and UTMs.
- 1
Fill in what repeats
Pick the account and campaigns and fill in the fields you use in every upload, such as Primary Text, Headline, Website URL and URL parameters.
- 2
Save the preset
Open Advanced and click Save settings to use again. Under Preset name, use a name that is easy to find. Under Available in, choose All my accounts or Only this account. Check the fields to include and click Save preset.
- 3
Apply it on the next upload
Under Use saved settings, pick the preset and click Apply preset. The window shows what will be filled in; review it and click Apply to common fields.
- 4
Update or delete
Did your default change? Adjust the fields, pick the preset and click Update preset: it is overwritten instead of creating a new one. Delete preset removes the selected preset.
One preset per client
Create Only this account presets for each agency client: the list then shows only that account defaults, and one client website and UTMs never end up in another client ad.
How to tell it worked
- The preset shows up in the Use saved settings list, with the name you gave it.
- When you apply it, the form fields are filled with the saved values.
- Content fields that are not in the preset stay empty and inherit from the ad set, as in a regular upload.
If something goes wrong
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The preset is not in the list | It was saved as Only this account and you are in another account | Go back to the account where you created it, or save it again as All my accounts |
| A field I had filled in disappeared when applying | It was not checked when you saved | Fill in the field and use Update preset with it checked |
| The Advanced panel does not show up | You do not have edit permission in the editor | Ask the account owner to allow the Meta Ads Editor page under Team |
Frequently asked questions
How do I save text, website, CTA and UTM settings to reuse in Meta Ads Editor?
In the upload form, open the Advanced panel:
- Save configuration to use again: give it a name, choose whether it applies to all your accounts or only this account, select the fields (main text, headline, website, UTMs, button) and save.
- On future uploads, open Use saved configuration, choose the configuration and click Apply configuration. The screen shows what will be replaced before it applies.
- Changed your defaults? Select the configuration and click Update configuration: it's overwritten with the current fields, without creating a new one. Delete configuration removes it.
The individual texts from Edit each ad aren't included in the saved configuration (they only apply to the current upload).
Where are the saved Meta Ads Editor settings (the Advanced panel)?
The Advanced panel, including Save configuration to use again, is near the beginning of the editor, between account and campaign selection.
To review the use of saved settings, open Metrics → Editor saved settings. This section shows who created and applied each setting, along with the corresponding date.
