Meta Ads Editor
One campaign per ad (1-1-1)
Each creative gets its own campaign, with one ad set and one ad, in a single upload.
Quick answer
In the Meta Ads Editor, check one campaign and one ad set. Pick 2 to 10 creatives and, under How should ads be distributed?, choose One campaign per ad (1-1-1). Click Create Ads. The 1st file goes into the campaign you checked. Each following file is born in a paused copy, with only that ad set and without the old ads.
Before you start
- The 1st creative goes into the campaign and ad set you checked. Ads that ad set already had stay there.
- The other campaigns are born paused, with the same ad set and without the old ads. The name follows the Ads Editor copy.
- From 1 to 10 per upload. With 1 file the option hides, because there is nothing to copy.
- A carousel or placement media is a single ad. The 1-1-1 structure does not use those formats.
- One ad per ad set (1-N-1) does not create a campaign. It splits the files across ad sets you already checked. See One ad in each ad set (1-N-1).
Step by step
In this example, 4 creatives become 4 campaigns: the one you checked plus 3 paused copies.
- 1
Check the model
Pick the account, one campaign and one ad set under Select Ad Sets. That ad set is the model for audience, budget and placement.
- 2
Pick the creatives
Under Creatives, select 2 to 10 files, in the order the campaigns should receive them. The 1st stays in the campaign you checked.
- 3
Choose 1-1-1
Under How should ads be distributed?, choose One campaign per ad (1-1-1). The summary shows the math, for example "4 ads · 1 campaign 1-1-1 each = 4 campaigns".
- 4
Check the status and create
The Ad Status toggle applies to the ads. Copied campaigns are born paused even if the ad is born active. If the campaign you checked is active and the ad is born active, only the 1st one can deliver. Click Create Ads.
Instagram links and catalog too
On the Ad from Instagram Link tab, each link becomes a campaign, the same way. On the Catalog Ad tab, the option is there too. Without new media, How many campaigns (1 to 10) sets the batch. With A new set for each media file, the number of files is the number of campaigns. The catalog steps are in Catalog ads and product management.
How to tell it worked
- The upload shows one campaign per file.
- In Ads Manager, the copies are paused, each with one ad set and one new ad, without the ads the original already had.
- The campaign you checked gained only the 1st ad. Its old ads are still there.
If something goes wrong
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The summary asks for one campaign and one ad set | More than one campaign or more than one ad set is checked | Leave only the model checked and try again |
| The option does not show | There is only 1 file, or the format is carousel or placement | Add 2 to 10 files and uncheck carousel and placement |
| The 1st ad delivered and the others did not | The campaign you checked was active and the ad status was active | Pause that campaign first, or pause the new ad afterwards. The copies are already born paused |
| It went over 10 | Duplication accepts at most 10 campaigns per upload | Split it into two uploads |
| A product was left in the catalog without an ad | Meta rejected the ad after the product and the product set had already been created | Delete the product in Commerce Manager. The editor does not delete that leftover on its own |
Frequently asked questions
How do I upload one campaign per ad (1-1-1) in Meta Ads Editor?
In the Meta Ads Editor, check one campaign and one ad set. Pick 2 to 10 creatives and, under How should ads be distributed?, choose One campaign per ad (1-1-1). Click Create Ads.
The 1st file goes into the campaign and ad set you checked. Ads that ad set already had stay there. Each following file is born in a paused copy, with only that ad set and without the old ads. The limit is 10 campaigns per upload.
The Ad Status toggle applies to the ads. The copies are born paused even if the ad is born active. If the campaign you checked is active and the ad is born active, only the 1st one can deliver.
The same option exists on the Ad from Instagram Link tab (one link per campaign) and on the Catalog Ad tab. In the catalog, without a new file, How many campaigns sets the batch. With A new set for each media file, the number of files is the number of campaigns. If Meta rejects the ad, the product and the product set may already have been created. The editor does not delete that leftover: delete the product in Commerce Manager.
One ad per ad set (1-N-1) does not create a campaign: it splits the files across ad sets you already checked.
Through Copilot or MCP, ask to copy the campaign without the old ads and to upload one file into each ad set, in order. There is no distribution called one_per_campaign. The clone structure_template 1-1-1 is a different function: it keeps 1 ad set and 1 ad that already existed.
