Before you start
- Generation uses AI credits: at least 1 credit per generation, not per text. The estimate shows up first and is free.
- Pick the campaigns (or ad sets) first: AI uses their ad texts as a tone reference.
- You can include an image or video from the chosen creatives so AI considers what the piece shows.
Step by step
In this example, we ask for copy for a delivery business weekend promo.

Open Generate copy with AI
With the account and campaigns checked, click Generate copy with AI, below the Primary Text.

Check the sources
Under Reference sources, the window shows how many ad texts it loaded and the landing page. Uncheck the website if you do not want it read.

Describe the offer
Open About the offer and write what you sell, to whom, the tone and the goal. Under Number of suggestions, choose 1 or 5.

Generate and apply
Click Generate five suggestions. Uncheck what you do not want, edit what you need and click Apply selected texts: the first becomes the Primary Text and the others, variations.
Always review
AI writes drafts. Check price, timing and claims before publishing: the text goes into the ad exactly as it is in the field.
How to tell it worked
- The Primary Text and the Text variations are filled with the chosen suggestions.
- The window shows the credits used when it finishes.
If something goes wrong

Does Ads Editor write ad copy with AI?
Yes. In the Meta Ads Editor, next to the text field, the Generate with AI button creates copy suggestions in the tone of the ads already running in your account. It reads your website, your active ads, and the selected media.
You choose whether to generate 1 or 5 suggestions. The credit estimate is FREE and appears before you generate. You are only charged for actual usage, never for the estimate. After generating, approve the suggestions you want and apply the ones you chose to the ad (including to the text variations).
